TREATMENT OF PERIODONTAL DESEASE

TREATMENT OF PERIODONTAL DESEASE

Early signs of periodontal desease

Sensitive and bleeding gums, gingivitis, or mildly moving teeth - these are early signs of periodontal disease that can lead to loss of teeth in a short time. If you experience the following symptoms, it is essential to start treatment as soon as possible:

  • Gum is painful or sensitive to touch

  • Swollen, red gums

  • Gum bleeding during an average toothbrush

  • The retracted gums (gingivitis) that can make the cervical part of the tooth or the crowns metal frame visible

  • Tiny gaps between gums and teeth

  • An unpleasant breath

  • Gaps between teeth

  • Moving teeth

TREATMENT OF GINGIVITIS

- STEP BY STEP

1. DIAGNOSTICS

Detecting the causes of gingivitis and assessing the severity of the situation with modern imaging technologies: dental X-ray or 3D CBCT recording. The assessment of the condition of the teeth is carried out by mechanical means (pouch measurement).

2. CLEANING OF THE TEETH

Treatment of gingivitis begins with the removal of the deposited tartar.

3. CLEANING OF THE TEETH ROOT SURFACES

Targeted cleaning of the area under the inflamed gums is done by smoothing the root surface.
If only the teeth are cleaned but not the bacterial infected root surfaces, the gums will not be able to retract to the root, although this is indispensable for stopping the gingivitis.
For this reason, the surface layer of the roots (about 0.2 mm) that is soaked with bacterial toxins must be removed. There are 2 types of this periodontal procedure: closed and open curettage.

4. MEDICATION

In severe cases, it may be necessary to get an accurate understanding of the bacterial flora that causes the gingival disease. We take a sample from the sachets and send it to a laboratory for genetic testing to identify the bacteria living there. With this information in mind, we are making treatment more effective with targeted antibiotic therapy.

5. STABILIZING THE MOVING TOOTH

If the periodontal disease has reached a stage that threatens the stability of our teeth, the loosened teeth will be re-stabilized by splinting, preventing the loss of teeth.

6. ORAL HYGIENE GUIDANCE

For the preservation of the condition, steps should be taken to keep the teeth clean after the treatment, therefore we have developed an  oral hygiene program for our patients.
