HOW DO WE TREAT GINGIVITIS?
Sensitive and bleeding gums, or mildly moving teeth - early signs of periodontal desease that can lead to loss of teeth in a short time. In the case of gingivitis, a complex treatment is used to heal the gums and stabilize the teeth. The area under the inflamed gums has to be cleaned, as well as the root surface with closed or open curettage.
1. TREATING PERIODONTAL DESEASE WITH CLOSED CURETTAGE
The treatment is carried out with simple local anesthesia and ultrasonic scaling. The purpose of the intervention is to remove the tartar under the gums and to clean the root surface from the bacteria. Removing the tooth root surface filled with toxins will cause the root surface to become smooth and free of infection, which the gum can adhere to. Closed curettage is performed by the oral hygienist in several steps, usually divided into four occasions.
2. TREATING PERIODONTAL DESEASE WITH OPENED CURETTAGE
In the case of advanced gingivitis, when the sachets are too deep, it may be necessary to carry out an open curettage. This is a surgical intervention that separates the gums from the infected areas so that deep-seated bacteria can be accessed and thus we can cleanse the root of the tooth. With open curettage, if it is done in time, even in the case of a highly advanced periodontal disease, our teeth can be saved from loss.
